Do Google reviews help my ranking?
Yes. Google says prominence is one of the three things it uses to rank local results, that it's based partly on how many reviews you have, and that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking. Reviews also help people choose you once you show up.
Numbers matter, and so do freshness and words. A steady trickle of new reviews beats a burst from two years ago, and reviews that mention the job and the town ("they cleaned our pavers in Plymouth") tell Google and AI what you do and where. The best way to get them is to ask every happy customer, right when the job is done, with a direct link or QR code. Replying to them helps too.
For example, a painter who asks every customer at the final walkthrough, with a text that has the review link, can add a few reviews every week without ever offering anything in return, which Google doesn't allow.
We set up the review link and the ask for every client and make it part of the routine. More on getting more reviews.
